About Joe - Biography
Joe was born and raised in Albany, N.Y. He worked around the Albany area with various groups, and his own trios and quartets. Joe took his trio on the road, working hotels and restaurants from Albany, N.Y. to Seattle, WA, Alaska, Montana, Nevada, Iowa, Idaho, California, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. For awhile, he settled in the northwest area, living in Seattle, Eugene, OR, and finally Portland, OR.In 1989, Joe again took to the road, performing solo in some of Europe and Scandinavia’s finest hotels and working on Finnish and Swedish Ferries, cruising on the Baltic Sea from Finland to northern Germany to Sweden, and once to St. Petersburg. After a successful “Jazz on the River” summer in Eugene, Oregon in 1990 at the Valley River Inn, where he used a variety of talented musicians in a quartet setting, and a three-month stint at the Polo Club in Portland, he made a journey to Japan. Joe opened at the Roppongi Crest Club February 1st, 1991, and continued there through the spring of 1992. Then, he went to Germany for a six-week gig at the Treudleburg, just outside of Hamburg in August through September. Then, another trip to Sweden, cruising the Swedish archipelago, and a short trip to Davos, Switzerland. After a short rest at home, he returned to the Roppongi Crest Club where he continued through September 2002. Joe opened at the Westin Hotel in Tokyo November 2002 through January 2003. He started working the Ginza Crest Club in May 2003 through January 2007. Lately, he’s been working Friday and Saturday at Legato in Shibuya and Sundays at the Ritz-Carlton in Mid-Town in Roppongi.
